Ok, so this will be my last update on my laptop's performance.
Before I start ranting just expressing my admiration for all the Dolphin devs out there making all this playing fun mayhem possible!
So many exciting news out there...the 5.0 coming, the Dx12 backend giving its first baby steps, HD textures packages, Ishiikura, ....you
name it! Thanks for your effort!!
Now, regarding my laptop, I gotta backpedal on a couple of things (after intensive testing these last weeks):
1. Idle skipping OFF ain't faster (just for a few games)
2. D3D is usually faster than OPEN GL on my laptop (even though OPEN GL feels a bit smoother when playing, but slower)
Probably this was due to my way of testing...I usually tried first with D3D and afterwards with OPEN GL...so it felt faster the second
time around, probably because of the cache building (just guessing here).
Now, without further ado: (this time I didn't cap the frame limit, so those FPS are the max. with standard settings:
V-Sync OFF
EFB Scales ON
Per Pixel Lightning ON
MSAA 8x
AF 16x
IR 1080p (3x)
Ignore Format changes ON
EFB to texture ON
Fast cache ON
XFB disabled
Fast Depth Calc. ON
I used built 4.0.8506
- Donkey Kong Country Returns I used built 4.0.8000 (85FPS D3D / Fast Depth Calculation OFF / OPEN GL slower but smoother 65FPS)
- Fragile Dreams (48FPS on 30 / D3D, OPEN GL good too / XFB to virtual ON / Enable Progressive Scan ON)
- Kirby's Epic Yarn (120FPS on 60 / D3D)
- Kirby's Return to Dreamland (120FPS on 60 / D3D)
- Klonoa (90FPS on 60FPS / D3D)
- Last Story (70FPS on 30 / D3D / Overrided INI with my settings)
- Little Kings Story (38FPS on 30 / D3D / MSAA 4x gives you +10FPS / XFB to Virtual ON / Per Pixel Lightning OFF)
- Lost in Shadow (60FPS on 30 / OPEN GL)
- Metroid Prime 1 (70-75FPS on 60 / D3D / Overrided INI)
- Metroid 2 (70-85FPS on 60 / D3D / Overrided INI)
- Metroid 3 (70-75FPS on 60 / D3D)
- New Super Mario Bros (135FPS on 60 / D3D / Force Texture Filtering ON)
- No more Heroes (100FPS on 60 / D3D)
- Okami (40-50FPS on 30 / D3D / EFB to texture On and Off sometimes)
- Project Zero 2 (60FPS on 30 / D3D / Overrided INI / EFB to texture on hotkey to see photos on album)
- Resident Evil 4 (65FPS on 30 / D3D, OPEN GL smoother and 60FPS)
- Silent Hill (70-100FPS flashlight On-Off / D3D / Crop ON / Some minor glitches with flashlight)
- Sonic colors (45FPS on 30/ OPEN GL / Skip EFB access ON)
- Super Mario Galaxy (80FPS on 60 / D3D / Skip EFB access OFF, even though ON gives u a big speed up, but starbits u can't get?)
- Super Mario Galaxy 2 (65FPS on 60 / D3D / Skip EFB Access ON starbit problem here too, otherwise great speed up?!)
- Tatsunoko Vs Capcom (100FPS on 60 / D3D / MSAA 4x +10FPS)
- The House of the Dead Overkill (55FPS on 30 / D3D)
- The Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess (40FPS on 30 / D3D)
- Sky Crawlers (55-75FPS on 60 / D3D / Disable Bounding Box ON) Glitchy!
- Wario Land Shake it (140FPS on 60 / D3D)
- Xenoblade Chronicles (50FPS on 30 / D3D)
*Some doubts with the Skip EFB access from CPU ON (games like Super Mario Galaxy 1 & 2 and Zelda Twilight Princess gives you trouble so you can't get the speed up! Isn't there any work around so you can use that hack?).
*Also when I use MSAA OR SSAA I can't see the difference, but SSAA drains a lot of FPS from the games...is it really much better (SSAA than MSAA?)
*What's the use of Skip EFB access from CPU ON?
Hope this INFO is helpful...just thanks again for your help and keep up the awesome work!!).
