OH its just the one that lets you change the watchdog settings... i thought it was more than that, but It is still awesome thanks

Ok, in Windwaker I get no noticeably higher rates with any of the watchdog levels :/ add that to your list, but what exactly is watchdog?

So I tried Mario Kart Wii with WD at 10 and it decreased speed for me. I wasn't using any FPS counter but simply my eyes. And it certainly WAS a lot slower for me at WD 10.

I think its gonna vary for each person depending on system settings, Os, etc etc etc. For me atleast its a drastic improvement compared to the last rvns. Maybe try to find a sweet spot for your system Core2uu. I'm def on a inferior system compared to yours so maybe that has something to do with it.

Watchdog is supposed to check every certain amount/all frames if Core 2 (emulated gpu) is keeping up with Core 1 (emulated cpu), this should only be valid in Dual Core mode.
GPU and CPU mean the emulated ones here. When check is done, if the GPU part hasn't finished its cycle of rendering, it will hold back the CPU part until GPU part finishes. Checks are made every 1/(WD) seconds, choosing a value of 60, checks will be made every single frame making the CPU part constantly wait for GPU to finish, giving a slow feel in some games (Gamecube ones are like this in Dolphin anyways). When lower values are chose, checks are not made between some frames (the lower the value the less checks are done), giving the CPU part free road to keep going on with core emulation, causing some frames to be skipped and raising the PC cpu core to 100% usage. I guess that some games are really dependant of GPU-CPU synch and lowering the Watchdog divider will only cause problems in those cases. Wait a minute, Wind Waker makes me curious, please post if it is the PAL or NTSC version, it might have something to do.

Perhaps.
I already get great speeds with basically all of the Gamecube games that work with Dolphin. I don't have too many Wii titles and a lot of them are troublesome with Dolphin (SSBB (NTSC), and MP3 for example). So, changing watchdog, not working for me, is OK, since what does emulate properly for me emulates fast already. The only thing I want to have sped is SMG obviously. But of course the optimal watchdog setting is 60 so changing would be pointless.

Um, from what I understand, if you need speed, you should set watchdog to a lower level so that the cpu keeps pace with the gpu less frequently, letting your cpu go further and not having to slow down and wait. Think of it this way, The CPU and the GPU go out for a jog (lolz) and the CPU is faster. The Watchdog however makes sure the CPU waits for the GPU and doesn't leave him behind or else it will ruin the jog (or game), however, if the Watchdog checks less frequently, it gives the CPU a chance to go further, and makes the gpu sort of... ok now I'm lost, because the CPU would still have to wait, someone help me T_T 07-22-2009, 11:30 AM

If you check Caco's main post, the updated list says 60 is the optimal watchdog setting for SMG, which makes sense with my testing. Dunno why it happens, but it does.
