I have already manually transferred by wii saves that I wanted to. Could I take enough files to get a working Wii menu?

I backup-ed dolphin's folder.
Deleted the sysconf from real nand mentioned in guide. Copied nand over dolphin, overriding any duplicates copied wii/title from the backup copied wii/shared2/menu/ (one of the folders I dont remember)(this fixes mii changing because I originally copied from wii remote) works 10-24-2016, 04:20 PM

I saw someone recommend Wii NAND Extractor on page 17. I can confirm that this works on Windows 10 using a bootmii dump. Once you have the nand.bin and key files, you can run Wii NAND Extractor. The key file doesn't appear to be necessary from what I can tell, unless the program automatically uses it. It would be nice if someone would update the original post. Here's a link to Wii NAND Extractor THANK YOU! i was going nuts with that zestig.exe problem had tried permissions, windows settings, different PC's, but the guide is out of date. adding a +1 to update the guide on extracting the nand files and NOT using zestig.exe 10-24-2016, 04:26 PM

But it only lists the "zestig.exe" method...
Considering the wiki page was made in 2012, I wonder if the issue is that zestig doesn't work on 64bit OSes, not that it doesn't work on Win7 and newer? Maybe someone with access to 32bit Win7 could test it?

I followed the wiki's instructions a year ago or so on 64-bit Windows 7, and I don't recall having any problems with it.

i first tried this today and I think I know why the zestig (and other) extraction methods might fail - bad blocks on your nand dump.
The zestig method will fail if you have any bad blocks on your wii - even the (so-called factory) bad blocks. Mine failed at the same place every time which was a red flag. I also found that the NAND Extractor app failed at the same place. After some searching I found another app called nandExtract (r105) and this was the only app that could load my dumped nand, and it showed me two bad blocks in the read. I was able to isolate these bad blocks to one particular game title on my nand. So I extracted everything except the titles folder. which I had to then do for every individual title, leaving out the title folder with the bad block read. (which halts any extract of a whole nand) Only then was I able to complete a nand dump and interface it with Dolphin successfully. Roller Coaster ride |
